I was reading somewhere about how it's thought that some phase IV work could now be conducted completely online through large patient forums.
Could we reach a point where trials are completely managed online?
But how would you measure specific endpoints online - you couldn't rely on patient self-assessment, too prone to error?
Hmmm...my sense is that you could conduct meta-analysis from patients who have been involved in offline clinical trials online. This would mitigate the problem of self-analysis, but not sure how fresh trials would work.
Certainly online forums will grow in strength when it comes to clinical trial recruitment, IMO.
