Given it looks like the US folk are getting their stuff together and healthcare reform should go through soon, do people think it will have much of an impact on Europe?
I'm hoping it might educate some of the US senior people about cost containment and market access!

Errr....not so sure "soon" is the word I would use. It seems to have hit the rocks slightly.
Will it have an impact in Europe? It might raise the importance of the region in the mind of senior execs as Europe could be seen as a good learning ground when it comes to cost-effectiveness discussions, which are likely to happen more frequently with insurers or even the FDA once healthcare reform does go through (in whatever form that may be).

Whether it goes through or not the US is going to have to face up to the same ever expanding healthcare costs and decreasing funds as the rest of the world. Hold on tight, it's gonna be fun....

The US healthcare reform will hit pharma at least in their margins. This will drive effectiveness and efficiency ever more. The BRIC-countries (emerging markets) will definitely not be ready to replace the margins lost in the US and Europe. Example: Russia market growth in US$ 2009: -7% (in Rubel it was 18%).
New laws upcoming, cutting the amounts of money to be sent abroad
