Almost $1bn payment from Merck to settle the Vioxx investigation. Do people think this is a fair outcome / closure or not?

Greetings! I am new to the site—apologies for the late response.
It really depends on how you define "fair" does it not? I can only imagine what the full threat of a judgement would or could have been if Merck was willing to end the dispute for $1bn.

Indeed - one can only imagine that the potential risk of not settling was far greater! Thanks for chipping in and welcome to the forums. Hopefully over the next few months as we develop some site features we will see a bit more dialogue here.
